Discussion on my idea:

Group size seems large – Break down

What about large year sizes

Not a choice. Reduce coverage of synchronous content. Boost asynchronous. Make synchronous the most impactful it can be even if shorter.

Increase opportunities for later follow up and discussion.

Letting people prepare for sessions – pre-tasks

Necessary emotionally, not just practically

Disclosure

Separation needed? Maybe wrong word, you engage and address don’t separate

Criticality

Discussed how there are hidden messages everywhere for some students that belie the call to think and express yourself critically

Lots of things actually imply that you need to be a particular type of student to succeed

Make sure that giving over choice to room doesn’t perpetuate power dynamics

For example, we discussed the story most people had seen

Giving choice over to them needs to be managed

How? Pre-task again. Gather in advance. Then ask them to choose.

Everyone has power

Also, if you’re getting people to bust their ideas open maybe this can’t be all at once?

You need to give them areas to research about and be knowledgeable about to feel safe.

I’d given them stuff to be expert about but maybe not enough. The choice was there’s but we were still doing my task.

Maybe they need to say what a story is, before you add or challenge?

Neverending disruption will be hard to take
